I have a genuine passion to work closely with you as you rebuild. It is

includes your sense of self, your environment, your relationships, your

As a therapist, I see my role as creating the environment for change
to happen. I've come to believe that we are each our own best healer.
We have our own inner wisdom that knows what is needed to move
forward, however sometimes this knowing becomes blocked. When this
happens, we seek the external support of a qualified therapist.
My name is Elyssa Barbash and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, offering counseling services in Tallahassee, FL. I am also a Level I EMDR certified therapist, which means that I specialize in grief, trauma, and loss. I hope to make the person sitting across from me in my office realize that they are their most important resource for making life work. I believe that my clients hold the keys to their own healing and
understanding, and I work to be a guide and mirror as my clients embark
on their journeys of healing and growth. In addition to new
insights, I help guide clients to transform their new understandings of
themselves into practical changes and life adjustments.
About Elyssa:
Elyssa received her Bachelors degree in Interpersonal and Organizational Communication from the University of Central Florida. She went on to complete her Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Central Florida with a specialization in Marriage & Family Therapy. She is currently working on her doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology and School Psychology at Florida State University.
Elyssa is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida, a Nationally Certified Counselor, and a Level I EMDR certified therapist, as well. She is a member of the American Psychological Association and American Counseling Association.
In addition to working with individuals and couples in her private practice in Tallahassee, Elyssa also has several years of combined experience working in residential treatment facilities, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, partial-hospitalization programs, facilitating intensive outpatient programs, performing individual, couples, and family therapy, as well as conducting a variety of psychotherapy treatment groups.
